Mopar Alternator Restoration
Date correct alternator restorations.  Send us your Mopar alternator and we will rebuild and restore it to factory original appearance and function.  If you need an alternator, we have a fairly large inventory of round backs, with casting and build dates from 1960 through 1971.  We also have a few 1972 + square backs.  The price for our alternator rebuild service is $325 plus the price of the core if you do not have a structurally sound core.  The price of the core is dependent on the quality of the casting and the relative availability of the part number and date that you need.

What our service includes:
**  New front and rear bearings
**  New diodes
**  New stator
**  New brushes
**  New capacitor
**  All new plastic parts; insulators, brush holders, etc.
**  Red warning tag on field terminal
**  Any other parts required to make the unit perform to the original specs. (Note that these additional parts may be new or used depending on availability.  All used parts will be reconditioned to original appearance and function)

We completely disassemble the unit to clean, test, and inspect all parts. The rotor is disassembled and rebuilt or replaced with new. The stator is replaced with a new one or a rewound original.  We have purchased some NOS rotors and stators and developed a process to duplicate the original appearance. We clean the covers using a cleaning process that does not deteriorate the precious cast and/or stamped markings.  (Any parts or housings provided by a customer for restoration are uniquely marked.)  The housings are then coated using a process that we have developed in conjunction with a couple of retired material science engineers.  The coating we use is not a paint, it is closer to a plating and it almost perfectly reproduces as well as protects the original appearance.  We then reassemble the unit and test it for proper operation.

We are offering a new service. We have found a source for a set of parts that will increase the output to 90 amps that can be built into your original housing with no modifications. The only external difference is the rear bearing has a different design and protrudes out of the case about 1/4" to accommodate a slightly longer rotor shaft. The price for this service is $400.

Due to limited availability, our price does not include the dimpled (original) rear bearing. We prefer to use a new bearing, but all new bearings we get are flat.  We do have a limited supply of NOS dimpled bearings. They are available as an upgrade to our basic restoration for an additional $75.
